Software Engineer

Newton Research Labs is looking for a talented software engineer to join our team in producing innovative computer vision, robotics, and automation solutions for our customers. Newton is located minutes south of Seattle in Renton, Washington. This is a direct hire, full time, on-site salaried position with medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits. Responsibilities Include:

  • Working individually and with a team to research and solve difficult computer vision, automation, and robotic problems
  • Designing and developing software systems that meet Newton's high standards
  • Consistently writing performance-minded, highly-readable code using OO best practices
  • Producing documentation including design proposals, user manuals, test plans, and other design documents
  • Being involved at all stages of system development, from research to UI design to final testing
  • Contributing to system test frameworks
  • Serving as technical lead when appropriate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field. Note that Newton is a Linux house
  • Machine Vision experience
  • 6+ years of experience developing professional software systems
  • Cross-discipline skills a plus (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
  • C/C++ application programming for embedded and desktop Linux applications
  • OpenCV or other image processing/computer vision framework expertise
  • Excellent algorithmic and problem-solving skills
  • Complete product cycle experience, from concept to delivery
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment
  • Linear algebra experience helpful
  • Other languages: Python
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Newton Labs, a growing High-Tech manufacturing facility in Renton, Washington, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer for an ongoing assortment of projects related to robotics, automation, and machine vision, including:

  • Designing new electromechanical devices for industrial and nuclear applications
  • Directing in-house machine shop fabrication of prototypes
  • Providing process engineering support to Production operation
  • Providing engineering support to internal sales team and customers

The qualifications for the position include:

  • BS degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years work experience and knowledge of systems integration preferred
  • High level of proficiency with SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of drafting practices
  • Experience with PTC Creo or Pro/E a plus
  • Familiarity with Mastercam a plus
  • Familiarity with CNC and manual machining practices
  • Experience with interfacing of software and embedded processing since software control of machines is currently essential

Newton Labs requires an entry level to some experience Inside Sales Associate to join their Sales Team. This position will interface with customers, prepare quotations, and perform some marketing responsibilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Some technical background is desirable due to the sophistication of the products produced by Newton Research Labs. This position has the potential to grow into an outside sales position.
